arnARI has joined hands with DAVO.
The organisation works to support people facing mental health challenges. They have rehabilitated several people who now work alongside them to help others.
DAVO is run by a dedicated team who work to provide these people three hot, nutritious meals everyday, along with the other necessities like clothing, medicines and daily essentials.
Men and women live in separate dormitory style wards and every person has their own bed. They live like a community even though they are all strangers, and it is here that they begin a fresh chapter of their lives- forging new bonds, building friendships and growing a sense of support and community.
We gave warm socks to them, along with piping hot chai and samosas, and they were happy to have us around. It was heartwarming to see the women sunning themselves on the roof while the team members sat with them shelling peas. It was just like any household and what’s more- this household is full of warm smiles and joyful banter and camaraderie.
The team members told us that their most important requirement is procuring rations. It costs about ₹5,000 to feed one meal to everyone.
