Homelessness is a chronic problem that grips our current reality.

We had a rude awakening when we were confronted with it first hand in a jarring way. We had gone to donate rations to this family and discovered that their shanty had been torn down two hours earlier by the Municipal Authorities.

The young girls were still in their school uniforms, and the family was hopelessly moving about the wreckage, assessing the damage, and most likely wondering where to begin to rebuild the broken pieces of their life.

Their makeshift dwelling was made of tarpaulin and polythene, but it kept out the cold, biting wind. Tonight they will be sleeping in the open, once the girls have changed out of their school uniforms.
All they kept saying was, “We weren’t even given time to collect our belongings. It was razed down without warning.”

When everyone else is relaxing in the winter break, this family has nothing to look forward to, and their children are exposed to the cold.

We must protect the innocent. We must protect the vulnerable. Kindly donate a portion of your winter holiday fund for this family, and we will directly pass on the money. While making your donation, please mention it as “SHELTER”.

Thankyou so much. This family will thank you from the bottom of their heart.
